Dr. Alicia Cowley

Alicia Cowley, MD, MBA leads Phreesia’s quality and value-based care initiatives as Director of Clinical Content. In this role, she helps drive Phreesia’s efforts to develop patient-centered digital solutions that improve health outcomes and to advance the move to value-based care.
Dr. Cowley came to Phreesia from NYU Langone Health, where she was an attending physician and clinical assistant professor in the department of Internal Medicine. She provided clinical care as a hospitalist and taught residents, nurse practitioners, and medical students. At NYU Langone Health and Bellevue Hospital, she spearheaded initiatives in value-based medicine and quality improvement both in the inpatient and outpatient space. She also interned at the World Health Organization developing guidance around open disclosure policies following adverse events in healthcare.
Dr. Cowley trained in general internal medicine and business administration. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in neurobiology from Harvard. She earned her medical degree from the NYU Grossman School of Medicine where she also completed her residency training in internal medicine, and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. She is passionate about mentorship, Latinx culture, photography, and travel.
